Aussie teams on track on Day Six of competition

Skydivers on the Australian Parachute Team have continued to perform strongly against their international rivals on Day Six of competition, with the following noteworthy results:

“Ookoonono” in silver medal position: With two rounds to go of the CF 2-Way Sequential event, Jules McConnel, Michael Vaughan and Craig Bennett are currently in second place on 98 points. They lead the US by 3 points while the French are out in front on 107 points. Round 7 is currently in progress. Second Aussie team CHAPS are currently in 21st place with a score of 8.

“Rotor Out” make top 10: After six rounds of competition our FS 4-Way Open team are on 107 points in 10th position, just behind Germany and Sweden on 108 points. With four rounds to go the Aussies are nudging the top 25% of teams in the competition.

“Valkyries” on form: Our FS Women’s 4-Way team are currently in 8th position after 6 rounds with a total score of 77. In a close contest between nations, they trail Sweden by just one point and Germany by two points. With four rounds to go, the girls are averaging 12.8 points per round, well above their Nationals average of 10.9.

“Velocita” nudging top 10: Our FS 8-Way Open team are on 82 points with two rounds to go, putting them in 11th place among a field of 16. On their last jump they scored 13 points - the 6th best score in the round. They are only one point behind Qatar making a top ten finish for the nine a serious possibility.

Individual Accuracy Landing: Tibor Glesk is our top Australian competitor, currently placed 118th with a score of 022cm after six rounds. He leads teammates Dave Boulter and Mark Edwards (jointly 155th, 034cm), Mike Dyer (177th, 046cm) and Andy Pike (183rd, 054cm). In the Women’s event, Janine Hayes is placed 62nd with a score of 037cm.

Freefall Style: After two rounds Tibor Glesk is the lead Australian in 46th place. Mike Dyer is next in 57th position, followed by Mark Edwards (69th), Dave Boulter (71st) and Andy Pike (72nd). Janine Hayes is ranked 38th in the women’s event.

“The Addicted” finish 7th: The competition for our VFS team has come to an end. They finished their WPC campaign in 7th place with a score of 53 after eight rounds.

“WD40” finish 10th: After a tough competition, our AE: Freestyle team has finished in 10th place with a score of 21 after five rounds of jumping.

"K4" finish 4th: The final two rounds of the CF 4-Way Sequential event are currently underway. Our team "K4" will finish in fourth place behind Russia, France and the USA.
